This year’s skit answers the question “What’s the first thing you think of when you hear Filipino?” Snapshots into a Filipino home affected by PI politics, a Filipino-American college campus, and a couple of second-generation young adults just trying to be themselves show us that being Filipino is more than just “lumpia.” Faced by the stereotypes the world projects on them, each of the characters have their biases and perspectives challenged. While poignant, pointed, and at some points, meta, their stories call us to embrace our identities and embrace others.
